{10} Favorite Christmas Songs/Carols
I absolutely love Christmas Carols. Most people think it's "too soon" to listen to Christmas music before Thanksgiving. I completely disagree with these folks. I think it's totally appropriate to listen to Christmas music as early as the beginning of October, which I've done. As soon as there is a day below 60 degrees, all Christmas carols are fair game.
I am very picky about the Christmas songs I love and hate. I especially start to dislike those that are overplayed.
Pandora and my ipod have been providing an excellent source of holiday carols. Here are some of my all time faves:
1) Fum Fum Fum. It's different and intense. I like some traditional carols, but this one is uncommon and quite enjoyable.
2) White Child Is this
4) Tennessee Christmas. Perfect song by Nashvillian Amy Grant.
5) O Come O Come Emmanuel
6) Bring a Torch Jeanette Isabella
7) Silent Night
8) O Holy Night
9) God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
10) In the Bleak Mid-winter
11) Carol of the Bells
12) Petit Papa Noël. Josh Groban covers this French carol on his album, Noël, and he makes it sound positively beautiful.
There are other Christmas carols I adore, but this is a pretty concise top 12 list.
Essential Christmas CDs that make my holiday season complete:
Amy Grant: A Christmas Album |
Roger Whittaker: Christmas Album |
Josh Groban: Noel |
Moody Blues: December |
Nutcracker Soundtrack |
There are other Christmas albums I adore, but that is a pretty efficient top 5.
There are, of course, Christmas carols I prefer not to hear, such as Go Tell It on the Mountain, Joy to the World, Jingle Bells, and The Twelve Days of Christmas. And there are those Christmas songs that are so stupid, you can't help but to love them, like Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer.
To each his own, as long as Christmas music helps you get lost, or found, during the holiday season, nothing else should matter!

Great Choices! I love them all!
I love Christmas music!!! I'm always bummed that I have never ever had a bunch of Christmas Carolers come to my house and sing like in the movies. Because that would be so awesome.
Great list!
I love Fum Fum Fum! I sang that in Georgia Regional Girls Choir in high school. I didn't know anyone else had heard of it
