Blog Block

I've been such a bad blogger over the past week.  I was off work Dec 31-Jan 3 and was unmotivated to blog over the holiday (apart from my peanut butter bacon cookies...)  Since the 4th, we've been banned from accessing unnecessary sites on the internet.  Evidently this means blogs, including my own.  Tuesday night I had an appointment after work and last night my best friend and her husband came over for dinner, so that left me no time to blog at home the past two nights.  .

And to be honest, I don't really have much to blog about.

I made delicious manicotti last night.  Those little shells are hard to fill!  They rip so easily.

The Frist (Nashville's art museum) is currently playing host to an exhibit titled "The Birth of Impressionism."  It arrived in October and is here until the 23 of January.  I'm dying to go.  I wrote it on my calendar over a year ago.  Somehow time has escaped me, and I've not had a chance to check it out.  I told M that we should make it a priority to go before it leaves town.

I love Impressionism.  It's such a romantic art movement.  The images are dreamy with beautiful colors and calming themes.

I haven't been to the Frist in 6 years, when they last had an Impressionism exhibit.  I'm such a bad Nashvillian.  I think M and I are going to go this weekend, though.  I can hardly contain my excitement.

To continue the randomness of this blog post, I will share a pet peeve of mine.  I have many, so I'll try not to get on a tangent:

My office has about 20 cubicles in it with walls that are tall enough that I can't see over them when I'm standing (I'm 5'2".)  These walls help block sound pretty well.  I can hear the two girls who share walls with me.  I can also hear the lady's music one across and one down from mine.  Besides that, I can't really hear other folks in my office.  Every now and then, Kendra will yell for me to come to her cube a few down, but she's making a point to yell.

So Annie, who is lots of cubicles away, is a receptionist for Evelyn, who has an actual office with drywall.  And for some reason (unbeknownst to me) she feels the need to holler at Evelyn every time she's going to send her an email.  She does it with other coworkers, too, but most commonly with Evelyn.  So it goes a little something like this...

"Evelyn?  I'm going to shoot you an email!"

"Ok!" I'll hear Evelyn holler back (I ain't no holler-back girlllll)

Isn't the point of email so that they'll realize they have an email?  There's no need to pre-warn that one is on its way.  That'd be like me sending you a letter in the mail, but calling or texting you to let you know that I have.  It's moot.  Is it totally ridiculous that this bothers me?  Does anyone agree that this is inane?  It's just a waste of energy in my opinion.

On another note, I was given a blogger award by Bouncin' Barb.  I don't really understand blog awards, but I suppose this means I'm supposed to pass on to others...

I will award the Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award to:

My dear friend Andrea, because I love being able to follow her life as a newlywed since we live a few hours apart.

Hayley.  I recently discovered her blog and love reading about her life.  I've enjoyed that I started reading around Christmas, so I got to see how her family celebrates the holidays in South Africa.

And minnilinny, whom I find funny and amusing to read, but she hasn't blogged in a long time, so she probably won't see this.

That's all I've got.  Hopefully next week I'll be able to get on track with posting, and maybe actually have something to post about.  I have something exciting up my sleeve, but we'll see...

Nice post. The point is to really get your blog out there and for others to become acquainted with others blogs. Basically, it's networking. I only follow blogs I like to read, and usually when I name someone on my blog a lot of my followers will check them out and usually follow them as well. It's really a great way to grow a following.

I agree with you about the e-mail business. How stupid is that to pre-warn people?! A similar thing happens to me when I answer the phone at home for my husband. The person on the other end will go through all this spiel (which I'm not really interested in, but I take notes just in case). They then proceed to say that they will e-mail my husband. DOH! Why go rabbiting on for ten minutes then!!! Such a waste of time and energy. There! That's my grump for the day!!

A pre-email announcement? Annoying & stupid. And thanks for the award. So sweet (haha, I make jokes).
I feel like I am in touch with you more than my little. But, you are my kind of adopted little after all ; )

I've been having a really hard time motivating myself to blog since the holidays. I sometimes think I'm getting tired of it, but I hope that's not the case. I hope my mind is just still on vacation.

Also, congrats on your award!
